A UK based charity, citizenAID aims to empower the public to save the lives of their fellow citizens. The charity provides educational resources for both individuals and organisations which are easy to access, simple to understand and best of all FREE. Their initiative has been recognised through several national awards including counter terrorism and innovation.
Rather than traditional first aid, citizenAID’s mission focuses on enabling individuals to be prepared to help in the event of a deliberate attack, involving several casualties – a timely and relevant subject in today’s news. However, usefully their guidance and materials are completely transferable to any situation involving requiring first aid, which is why we at The Midlands Training Company are recommending their material to EVERYONE.
What’s the best way to view citizenAID’s information?
The most accessible way to see the helpful information provided is through downloading their newly redeveloped phone application. It now covers every category of incident from knife attacks and explosions to acid burns. The app features step-by-step guides on how you should act in these events in order to stay safe yourself and save lives of those injured.
The app utilises structured repetitive processes, favouring simple icons over wordy text to make it user-friendly. It also ensures the first aider has carried out all risk assessments, safety measures and treatments with its logical steps.
CitizenAID also offer free educational material – perfect for awareness practices, as well as a pocket guide, although the app is much easier to carry around!
BUT remember – although free resources and educational materials are fantastic, organisations must abide by mandatory training requirements and demonstrate best practice, so make sure that you’re up to date with your First Aid and Fire Safety training – take a look at the courses we have to offer HERE.
DID YOU KNOW…We also offer a Qualsafe Awards Level 2 Award in citizenAID – click the link to find out more and BOOK.
